Giving thanks

Every Veterans Day, I wake up & shower. I kiss the kids – who are usually sleeping in, enjoying their day off from school. Kiss my lovely bride – who is usually enjoying the peace and quiet of the morning. Give the dog a pat. Check whatever livestock we have running around the farm. And then I head to work. Pretty much like every other day.

And for that privilege of a morning routine where I can go to work and do my thing & not worry about my loved ones, I thank my fellow vets, and those still serving.

Really, I was a super-vigilant soldier. Not sure why I was asleep here. But damn, I was young.
